Because Music has the pleasure of welcoming Aime Simone, one of the industry’s most exciting newcomers to its ranks.

Although he recently won the prestigious Chorus 2021 new talent prize - following in the footsteps of Christine and the Queens or Feu! Chatterton - the Parisian singer-songwriter was already an accomplished musician having learned the ropes with a first album ’Say Yes Say No’ released in July 2020 and fronted by hits ‘In This Dark Time’ and ’Shining Light’.

Aime developed a passion for music and literature from a young age, learning to play the guitar at 11 before penning his first songs as a teenager. He decided to make a career out of music following numerous creative encounters and explorations that led him to imagine his personal musical vision. Seeking a rush of instant emotions he left Paris to travel to Los Angeles, before ending up in Berlin, his new adopted home. The German capital, infamous for its thrilling nightlife and diversity, became his spirit city, a place where he could craft his sound layered with deeply nuanced aesthetics: his hoarse, broken voice, belies a softness that beautifies his intimate yet flamboyant songs, enhanced by minimal production that soar into epic anthems, completed by intense visuals: Aime Simone is a cathartic artist, heart-warmingly moving.

His self-produced-and-written foundation piece ’Say Yes Say No’, which came out in summer 2020, became the industry’s best-kept secret, a precious musical delight to those lucky enough to find it, and which will now be available through Because Music from Spring 2022. Aime Simone’s music did make it to wider audiences, however, thanks to a few live shows performed in front of enthralled audiences: ‘Shining Light’ has now reached 2 million streams, following a major ad sync notwithstanding ‘In This Dark Time’, brilliantly scored by a melancholic and catchy melody, infused with nostalgia and the longing for sunnier days, an “ode to humanity and hope” that feels like a true musical helping hand. Needless to say music fans quickly caught on, bringing his tally to 3 million streams worldwide.

Storming out of the shadows to shine in the spotlight, spurred on by a visceral drive, Aime Simone’s hunger for more has only fed his music with more grace. The versatile and truly inspired artist, whose album and stage performances make him one of the artists to watch, will kick-start the season with a performance at the Printemps de Bourges festival in France on April 21 before going on the summer festival circuit (3 Eléphants, Papillons de Nuit, Magnifique Society, Beauregard...) with the promise of unveiling a few exclusive tracks.
